The village of Vrysses probably got its name from the many water springs which existed there years ago and all but 4 of which do not exist today. The visitor can’t help but marvel at the green route which leads to the village center via rich orange groves and rich local flora as well as the central village square itself with its gigantic plane trees and the sense of peace and quiet all the scenery emits.

The area is rich in archaeological and geological findings and its history goes back to a very distant point many centuries ago. Just before the village square, there is a path marked “Xenia Odos” or “Katsouna Gorge” leading to the very heart of an impressive site, and, a little further on, to the ruins of the ancient city of Pergamos which King Agamemnon established on his return from Troy.
